AY2026/2027 Master’s Degrees Programmes Admission
Application period: 3 October 2025 – 13 March 2026
Established in 1997, the Master of Social Sciences in European Studies (MSSEUS) is a two‑year, full‑time programme jointly delivered by the University of Macau and the Institute of European Studies of Macau (IEEM). Taught in English with evening classes, the programme offers an integrated understanding of the European Union—its institutions and governance, the single market and economic policy, EU law and regulation, and the Union’s external relations. Year 1 combines modules across politics, economics, law, and international relations, building analytical foundations, comparative perspective, and advanced research and writing skills. Year 2 centers on a supervised project report that applies theory and evidence to a substantial EU‑related topic, developing professional competencies in problem framing, data use, and policy communication. Designed for students pursuing roles in government, international organisations, business, media, education, or further study, MSSEUS equips graduates with critical thinking, comparative insight, and job‑ready competencies while fostering global perspectives grounded in local and regional realities.
Established in 2009 (originally the Master of Arts in International Relations and Public Policy) and retitled in 2025, the Master of Social Sciences in International Relations (MSSIRE) is a full-time, instructor-led programme delivered in English. Designed for students seeking careers in public and international organisations in Macao SAR, Mainland China, and beyond, MSSIRE equips graduates with a strong grounding in the key concepts, representative theories, and major debates in international relations and public policy, while developing the practical skills needed for policy analysis and professional practice. Through rigorous training, students strengthen their critical thinking, research competence, communication and digital literacy, and learn to produce high-quality English academic and professional writing—including essays, reports, and a thesis/project report—and to present their work confidently. Graduates leave the programme with forward-looking global perspectives grounded in local and regional realities, and are prepared to be job-ready in relevant professions or to pursue further academic study in related fields.
Established in 2000 and one of the oldest master’s programmes at the University of Macau, the Master of Social Sciences in Public Administration (MSSPAD) is a full-time, instructor-led programme now delivered in Chinese and English. Designed for students seeking careers in the public sector, international organisations, or related fields in Macao SAR, Mainland China, and beyond, MSSPAD equips graduates with a strong grounding in the key concepts, classical theories, and contemporary debates in public administration and public policy, while developing the practical skills needed for effective governance and professional practice. The revised curriculum is strategically aligned with NASPAA competency standards, ensuring global recognition for our graduates. Through rigorous training, students strengthen their critical thinking, research competence, communication and digital literacy. The programme offers both daytime and nighttime courses to accommodate diverse student needs. Graduates leave with forward-looking global perspectives grounded in local and regional realities, fully prepared to be job-ready in relevant professions or to pursue further academic study.
