Youth Association for International Affairs

The Youth Association of International Affairs (YAIA) at the University of Macau is an organization dedicated to enhancing students’ awareness and understanding of global affairs and is currently advised by Professor Wang Jianwei from the Department of Government and Public Administration. Since its founding in 2010, YAIA has hosted activities like guest lectures, discussion forums, field trips, and simulations, providing participants with opportunities to explore world politics beyond the classroom in a fun and informal environment. In the past, YAIA has sponsored lectures by noted scholars such as Qu Xing (President of the China Institute of International Studies and Richard Ned Lebow (Professor of International Political Theory in the Department of War Studies, King’s College London). In 2014, we organized a trip to Taiwan in order to gain a better understanding of local government and social organizations and to have a first-hand glimpse of the legislative elections. YAIA also regularly participates in events hosted by the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao S.A.R., as well as by universities in Hong Kong and mainland China. Each year, YAIA also organizes the International Knowledge Competition and the Model European Union, which have attracted large numbers of attendees, including local policymakers and media.

All students with an interest in global affairs are welcome to join YAIA as members or officers and to participate in YAIA’s activities. We look forward to meeting you!
